Individual therapy provides a safe environment to deal with painful issues that we sometimes try to avoid (e.g. Physical abuse in childhood/adulthood, dysfunctional family issues, depression, or suicidal feelings). During times of stress, people may abuse alcohol or other substances, overeat, or engage in other destructive behaviors. Learning healthier coping strategies and facing conflicting feelings can be positive steps towards living a healthier and happier life. Finding a safe space to address these concerns can begin the process of healing.
